♥ Thursday, May 10, 2012
Today,
we planned to go to Goh Tong Jaya to explore and find our way to strawberry farm.
We were supposed to wake up and leave our room by 9am,
but apparently,
we drag drag till 11am.
haha

morning view from the lift waiting area window

this was the first scene we see in the morning,
isn't it breathtaking,
making your morning feels fresh???
=))

We head down to the lobby to find out from the information counter how can we go to Goh Tong Jaya.
The receptionist told us that we can go to the interchange to buy the bus ticket for the bus that head to KL (Kuala Lumpur) .
so happily we headed down,
and got to the counter to enquire.
While there, one of the person who attended to us told us we could just go to bay 14 to take free shuttle bus to Goh Tong jaya.
but when we were there,
we didnt see any bus to Goh Tong Jaya,
then a very nice bus uncle,
maybe felt that we looked like some lost sheep,
and ask us where are we heading to?
we told him,
and he told us that only world card member is entitled for the free shuttle bus,
so being helpful,
he brought us back to the counter and helped us told the counter person that we need bus ticket to Goh Tong Jaya.
(and don't be mistaken, he is not working for the company which we bought our ticket from, but another free shuttle bus company to the cable car centre)

The ticket to Goh Tong Jaya was RM 3 each.
And this is how the bus look like:
bus to KL

this bus go to KL,
but it does stop over at various places,
provided you let the uncle know beforehand.
which means,
if you want to go Goh Tong Jaya,
you have to inform the driver that you want to alight at GohTong Jaya,
when you board the bus,
then he will stop at a bus stop at Goh Tong Jaya.

interior of the bus

The seats are all numbered,
and seat allocation is based on your bus ticket purchased.
so you don't have to worry that you do not have a seat when you board the bus.
plus,
all the seats are nicely cushioned!
so for RM 3,
I think it's quite worth it.
=))

when you alighted at the stop (which got no sign at all, unlike singapore's bus stop),
you need to to cross over to the other side of the road (which have a row of shops opp),
then you turn to your right and walk all the way up,
in order to reach strawberry farm.

you will see signs along the way,
like those at the road side in this photo

strawberry farm

And ta da!!!
we reached the strawberry farm!!!
^-^

cutie strawberry statue

There is this very big strawberry statue outside to welcome you!!! ^_^

interior of strawberry farm

once you enter,
you will see a very nice "straw hut" office,
and a strawberry fountain.
Don't they look like fairytale to you?
haha

Admission to the strawberry farm is free =))
but once you decided to pluck your own strawberry,
you have to pay for whatever you plucked.

and of cos,
we won't miss the chance of spamming photo while plucking our strawberries!!!

strawberries and us ^-^

and there was this very nice indian worker(who worked in the farm),
who volunteered to followed us around and help us take photos,
like a personal photographer!!!
thank you thank you!!!
^-^

individual strawberry shot

he helped each of us took a very creative individual shot with strawberry (his idea),
and also helped us took pretty group shots.
=))

group shots

and after we were satisfied with our strawberry harvest,
we proceed out to the counter to pay for it.

our strawberry harvest =))

It's calculated by weight,
and ours cost RM 16.20 for 270g.

packed strawberry, machandise and dried strawberries

strawberry and passion fruit concentrated bottled juice

If you don't want to harvest the strawberry yourself,
you can also buy it off the shelf,
at the counter.
Other than selling straw berries,
they also sell dried strawberries, strawberry mechandises, lollipops, jam, concentrated juice etc.
I got the jam(RM12), strawberry juice(RM12) and a packet of dried strawberry(RM15).
the dried strawberry is nice,
but i havent try the dried jam and juice yet.

when you walk out from the little strawberry shop,
you can take photo with a few parrots (you have to pay though).

phototaking with parrots
There is a strawberry cafe for you to chill and snack at.
of cos,
they provide main course too,
if you feel like having your lunch here.
=))

cafe
the dining area
and further behind,
they have these very cute strawberry tables and stools diningn area.

strawberry dining area
kawaii ne =_^

since we are not feeling hungry,
we decided to order a few small snacks to share.

strawberry meal...LOL
the strawberry juice is nice
=))
the waffle is pretty normal...
but to our disappointment,
the strawberry ice-cream is just normal "king"(the brand) strawberry flavoured ice cream
=((

we also ordered the mushroom tempura to eat
mushroom tempura

and this is definitely a must try!!!
the mushroom is really fresh and juicy!!!
*yummy*

the friendly lady-boss came over to our table to talk to us,
ask us if the food are to our liking etc.
which i find their service really good!!!
and she told us that the mushroom were fresh from the mushroom farm,
which they only go and pluck and cook when there is an order for it.
thus,
we decided to make a trip to the mushroom farm,
since it's just within the farm.

mushroom farm
mushroom inside the farm

it was just a short walk in the "mushroom farm".
To be honest,
I wouldn't call that a farm,
probably just a place to grow mushroom.
*opps*
but there is another actual mushroom farm in Goh Tong Jaya,
which we didn't go.

well, they sell mushroom crackers,
and a varieties of fresh mushroom too.
fresh mushroom for sale

each of us got one pack of pearl oyster mushroom home.
and,
it's really fresh and juicy when I brought it home for mummy to cook!
*yum yum*

Lingzhi
To our surprise,
they were selling Lingzhi (a kind of chinese herb) too.
does Lingzhi and mushroom grow in the same way?
*question mark*

After a day of Goh Tong Jaya exploration,
we decided to head back to Genting.
As we were unsure which is the return bus stop,
we randomly walk to the nearest bust-stop-look-alike shelter and sat down waiting for bus back.
there was a pair of middle-age couple at the stop too.
and when the bus came,
it was actually a bus to "Awana" (a hotel nearby).
Nonetheless,
we boarded the bus,
as we knew we could also take free chartered from "Awana" back to "First World Hotel"(Genting).

free chartered bus to and fro Awana hotel
waiting area

This also means that,
you can take chartered bus from First World Hotel to Awana then to Goh Tong Jaya at no cost.
You can board the free bus at the waiting area,
near to Starbucks.
=))

After a whole afternoon at Strawberry farm,
we decided to go back to the hotel for a short nap.
(and this is why i always love free and easy trip,
not like there is tour group to genting,
but i meant in general the advantage of free and easy trip,
you get to go back to your hotel to rest as and when you are tired,
and go out to shop as and when you like!)

So after bout 2 hours of pigging,
we decided to go for dinner,
(ok, really sound like pig...opps)
and we decided on the steamboat-grill buffet at "Hot Pot",
which we saw on the first day.

Hot Pot
It is locatd on the second level of First World Plaza.
A place where you can eat steamboat and grill at the same time(pretty much like those we had in singapore).

steamboat and grill together

Every table comes with an integrated electronic cooker.
The cooking heat is adjustable by yourself.

The varieties is not too bad too.

alot of vegetables
more vegetable selection
w whole selection of different noodles

varieties of steamboat food and meats
clam
prawns
free flow of cold chinese tea and plain water
only fruits provided(watermelon)

If I'm not wrong,
there are only two types of marinated meat provided,
the rest are just pretty normal stuffs,
plus the clams and prawns.

One thing I don't like about this place is,
they do not provide the changing of aluminum foil service.
And our cooker doesn't seemed to work properly.
Thus,
we can only use half of the grilling area,
and it gets dirty after multiple cooking on the same spot,
which made the food even harder to cook.
But they do give you small pieces of aluminium foil when you ask for it.

Other than that,
I find the rest of the stuffs rather alright.
So,
if you are sick of eating at foodcourt and fastfood restaurants,
you can actually give this place a try,
though I wouldn't really recommend (not really worth the money...opps...sorry =XX ).

After dinner,
we went to take the indoor "flying coaster" ride for RM 8 per ride.
we and the flying coaster
It was quite a nice ride!
but the ride is only one short round...
if only it can let us go 2 rounds per ride then more shiok!!!
haha

After the ride,
we wanted to catch a movie,
but apparenly there wasn't anymore movie showing at such a late timing (unlike singapore).
So,
we head down to take some 3D ride.
There were two 4D showings- "Little Prince" and "Haunted Mine"(or some along this line, I don't really remember the name).
Little prince showing timeslot had already finished,
so we caught the other one.
Initially the person told us the ticket cost RM 12 each,
but in the end she only charge us RM 8.
Well,
I'm not sure why,
maybe because it was the last show of the day?
haha
I find the ride was so-so only.
In comparison,
I prefer USS (Universal Studio Singapore) "far far away land" shrek 4D ride better.
=))

inside the 4D ride theatre
As it was the last night of our stay in Genting,
we didnt want to sleep early.
So,
we went into the casino to explore,
and took lotsa jump shots outside like nobody business,
(since it was already late in the night and not many people around)
as if the whole place was booked by us!!!
LOL
our jump shots

second day in Genting =))
